Broccolini needed a better way to manage safety documentation and compliance across its bilingual workforce. With the help of the SALUS platform, they transitioned from a cumbersome paper-based system to an efficient, digital solution, improving safety program effectiveness and employee engagement.

The Challenge: Managing Safety Amid Paperwork Overload

Before going digital, Broccolini’s Health and Safety team faced significant challenges with document management. “As Health and Safety Managers, most of our job revolved around document collection and storage,” explains Rebecca Zavaglia, Health and Safety Coordinator. The team would drive around to collect paperwork, often dealing with forms that were inaccurate or lost, and then scan everything into the computer. This process consumed valuable time that could have been spent improving safety protocols.

  • The Solution: A Customized Digital Transition with SALUS

Broccolini’s tipping point came when boxes of paperwork piled up, creating a backlog that could never be properly reviewed. Rebecca was spending excessive time tracking people down across job sites. The company needed a change. “We decided it was enough and started looking at digital safety platforms. Eventually, we chose SALUS, and it’s been much easier ever since.”

When evaluating safety platforms, Broccolini chose SALUS because of the team's collaborative approach. “The SALUS team focused on our idea of success regarding safety and how their software could facilitate that,” Rebecca notes. SALUS worked closely with Broccolini to customize forms and ensure a smooth transition to digital safety management.

As a bilingual company, one of Broccolini’s major challenges in transitioning to a digital safety program was ensuring the platform could support both English and French. To address this, SALUS provided dedicated resources to assist with translation, making the platform fully accessible for all employees. “The level of customer service from SALUS is unmatched,” Rebecca says.

We went from not knowing exactly how compliant we were to knowing we are fully compliant.

The Result: A Fully Integrated, Efficient System

The SALUS platform has had a transformative impact on Broccolini’s operations. Rebecca finds the subcontractor management dashboard to be the most valuable feature. “The dashboard gives me a real-time view of worker counts and form submissions,” she explains. This enables her to identify irregularities and prioritize actions. “I start my day with the dashboard to see who is active and where their form submissions stand.”

Broccolini has also seen significant ROI from going digital. “The ROI is definitely in the thousands,” Rebecca states. The platform has streamlined the system and reduced the time spent on redundant tasks, allowing Broccolini to manage its entire safety program more efficiently.

With the help of SALUS, Broccolini now has 100% confidence in its safety compliance. “We went from not knowing exactly how compliant we were to knowing we are fully compliant,” Rebecca says.

Access to real-time data has drastically improved how Broccolini manages safety across its job sites. “Now, I spend more of my time optimizing our safety program,” says Rebecca. The ability to review completed forms, track certificates, and monitor site activity in real-time without leaving the office has made Rebecca’s job much more efficient. “Before, I had to chase workers down on the job site. Now, I can do everything from the office.”

Rebecca recommends SALUS to any company considering a digital safety platform. “I cannot say enough good things about this platform and the SALUS team,” she says. “The software is intuitive, and the team is easy to work with. Even though we are two different companies, it feels like we are one.”
